Format:
Font: In this option to change
the fonts, font styles (Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold italic), point size (1 to
1638), font colour, underline & underline colour, effects means
strikethrough, superscript, subscript, hidden, small caps, all caps, outline, shadow,
engrave, embosses etc. & you also set the character animation of sees types
( blinking background, lass Vegas, marching black ants, marching red ants,
sparkle text).
Paragraph: Each time you press enter in a word document; you insert
a paragraph mark and start a new paragraph. In paragraph set the alignment as left,
centre, right, justify and set the paragraph before or after spacing.
Bullet & Numbering:
Word for windows offers an array of
bullet list options. You can ever choose your own bullet character. Set the
bullet and numbering to create a bulleted or numbered list automatically.
Boarder
& Shading: Word
for windows provide paragraph border, page border and shading features. You can
apply various types of border, art and shading to a single paragraph or groups
of paragraph of continuous text.
Columns:
You can
use the format columns menu selection to specify the number of columns. Set the
width, space between columns, & equal column width and whiter or not the
column setting should apply to the entire document or form the current point
forward. Column is mainly used in the newspaper.
Tabs: Setting tab has been the
traditional method for providing column and table features on traditional
typewriters. The default unit of measurement when setting tabs is in inches.
Word for windows offers five specialized tab stop types. (Left, Right, Centre,
Decimal, bar tabs). We work with tabs to help align text and particularly
useful for making simple columnar settings and set the leader (none, doted,
dash, solid plain line) in between the tabs.
Drop Cap: Drop cap sets the first letter in particular fonts &
set the total no. of lines to be dropped.
Text Direction: When you create the text
box then you can set three types of text direction (left, right, top in the
selected box.
Change
Case: Change
case of the selected text. Five choices of case (upper case, lower case, title
case, sentence case, toggle case) which are quite self explanatory. For
example, upper case changes all selected characters to uppercase letters.
Background: You can apply a different color, apply
a texture or picture instead of color, or change settings for patterns and gradients.
- On the Format menu, point
to Background.
- Do one of the following:
§ Click the new color you
want.
§ Click More Colors to
see additional color choices.
§ Click Fill Effects to
change or add special effects, such as gradients, textures, or patterns.
Themes: A default theme is applied
to your active file and any new files that you create, although you can change
the theme as you're working.
Styles: Styles are named groups of
formatting command used to present your document with consistent formatting.
When you apply a style, each format in the style is applied simultaneously to
selected text.
Reveal formatting:
- On the Format menu, click Reveal
Formatting.
- Select the text whose formatting
you want to review.
- The formatting information will
appear in the Reveal Formatting task
pane.
Object: You can change the
formatting of an object.
