Insert Menu

Insert: Includes creating page, to add page number, date & time, are to text, comment, captions to active document or add object such as picture text box. Hhhhhhhhhhyperlink
to an active document.



Break:  Word automatically inserts the page break in the running text depending on the page margins set for that document. Word allows inserting manual page break by pressing ctrl+ shift + enter.

Page number: Insert page numbers they are placed in a frame in the header or footer.

Date & time: Insert your system’s date and time into a document. It will stay the same as when it was inserted in your document. If you insert the date or time, it is updated automatically, your can update the current system date and time whenever you open your document.
Auto text: Auto text lets you quickly insert entries which you have saved in a document. You can create named entries for text or graphics that you use offer, such as the return address or classing of a letter.

Symbol: Insert symbol to add a symbol or special character to a document.

Comments:  Add comments to a document to a document with insert comment.

Reference:

Footnote: Footnote and endnotes to provide explanation or references to marked items in the text of a document. Footnote appears at the bottom of the page where the marked items appear. Endnotes appear at the end of the document.

Captions:  If you write long document with numbered figures, tables and other elements, it automatically numbers things lets you label them, and then renumbers them if you move them or otherwise change their sequence in a document.

Picture:
  1. Click where you want to insert the picture.
  2. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
  3. Locate the picture you want to insert.
  4. Double-click the picture you want to insert.

Diagram:
  1. Diagram: -On the Drawing toolbar, click Diagram or Organizational Chart.
  2. Click one of the following diagram types:
§  Venn
§  Cycle
§  Pyramid
§  Target
  1. Click OK.
  2. Do one or more of the following:
  • If you want to add text to an element in the diagram, right-click the element, click Edit Text, and then type the text.
      • For cycle and target diagrams, you can only add text to the text placeholders that appear when you insert the diagram or diagram element.
  • If you want to add an element, click Insert Shape on the Diagram toolbar.
  • If you want to add a preset design scheme, click AutoFormat on the Diagram toolbar, and select a style from the Diagram Style Gallery.
  1. Click outside the drawing when you are finished.
Text box:

  1. On the Drawing toolbar, click Text Box.
  2. Click or drag in your document where you want to insert the text box.

File:
  1. Click where you want to insert the second document.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Insert File.
  3. In the File name box, enter the name of the file you want to insert, or browse to locate the file.
Object: Create and insert object in your current file
           
Bookmark: A bookmark identifies a location or selection of text that you name and identify for future reference. For example, you might use a bookmark to identify text that you want to revise at a later time. Instead of scrolling through the document to locate the text, you can go to it by using the Bookmark dialog box.

Hyperlink:
1.    Select word you want to create link.
2.    On the inset menu, click Hyperlink.
3.    In the File name box, enter the name of the file you want to make hyperlink and than click ok.
